Klaipėdos Nafta AB cargo handling at its Klaipėda and Subačius terminals in August increased by 6.1 percent as compared to August of the previous year, whereas the overall cargo handling growth from the beginning of the year reached 26 percent.
The Klaipeda oil terminal and Subačius fuel storage facility, where the fuel reserves of the state are stored, reloaded 436,000 tons of oil products into storage tanks in August of the current year, i.e., 6.1 percent greater quantities as compared to August last year, when 411,000 tons of cargo was handled. The transit flows of heavy oil products remained comparable, and the export of the light oil products of Orlen Lietuva and import of light oil products was on the increase.
Since the beginning of the year, 5.4 million tons of petroleum products have been reloaded into the storage tanks of the Company, which is 26.2 percent more than last year, when less than 4.3 million tons were reloaded into the tanks within the first 8 months.
In August, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal managed by the Company regasified and supplied 840,000 MWh of natural gas to the natural gas transmission system, i.e., 2.1 times more than in August last year, when 394,000 MWh was regasified. An overall quantity of 11 million MWh was regasified during the first eight months of this year, which is 3.3 times more than in the comparative period last year, when nearly 3.4 million MWh of gas was regasified.
The increase in cargo handling resulted in higher revenues from the beginning of the year. The revenue of the Company from all of its activities during these 8 months tentatively totalled 72.9 million euro, i.e., was 3.1 percent higher than in the corresponding period of 2015, when 70.7 million euro was received.
‘During the summer, we usually feel the seasonal impact of petroleum product cargo flows, however, this year, compared with the previous year, we were able to absorb the impact of seasonal challenges due to our optimally diversified cargo sources. The growth in LNG terminal cargo handling, like in July, was related to the fact that, already during the full swing of a gas year, i.e., in February 2016, Lietuvos dujų tiekimas, UAB and Achema AB ordered LNG terminal capacity quantities allowing us to carry out the supply of nearly all the gas volumes required for both of the companies during the remaining gas year,’ said Mantas Bartuška, CEO of Klaipėdos Nafta AB, in summarizing the results of the activities.
