“Klaipedos Nafta” will cooperate with the Spain in developing LNG standards

SC “Klaipedos Nafta” and Spanish Association for Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) have signed reciprocal Memorandum of Understanding by which the parties agree to cooperate in the standardization of liquefied natural gas (LNG) use.

 

According to Memorandum of Understanding signed between SC “Klaipedos Nafta”and GASNAM, it will aim to exchange experience and cooperate in the development of LNG use standards which currently do not exist in Europe; and to regulate the LNG as fuel supply for ships or by LNG trucks in several ways: from the port to ship, from ship to ship or from the LNG truck to ship.
 
 
“Klaipedos Nafta” not only implemented the first large scale LNG terminal project in the Baltic countries, supervised its construction, participated in the legal base making process, but also is the operator constantly evolving terminal operations and introducing new LNG business types in Lithuania and all Baltic region. It is natural that we became partners with organization, which brings together participants of the natural gas market, because we can share our experience together with international market players and standardize certain processes” said Mantas Bartuška, the CEO of SC “Klaipedos Nafta”.
 
 
 
GASNAM was founded in Spain in 2013; its activity extends to Portugal as well. LNG terminals in the Iberian Peninsula makes 50 percent of total Europe’s, import capacity and GASNAM currently has 79 members, which activities are divided into two parts: usage of natural gas as fuel on land and at sea.
 
 
The State owns 72,32 percent of SC Klaipedos Nafta shares.
