SC Klaipedos Nafta keeps expanding its customer base

2015-09-04 Company news
AB Klaipedos Nafta through its terminals in August of this year handled 7,5 percent less oil products than in August last year. This change of the transit goods flow is mainly caused by seasonality.

Handling of oil products in Klaipeda terminal and Subačius fuel base in August this year reached 411 thousand tons or 7,5 percent less than in August last year, when the terminal handled 444 thousand tons of oil products.

Comparing separate groups of goods there was a small loss of Belarusian oil products caused by the seasonal petroleum product supply and demand fluctuations.

One of the company's major clients Orlen Lietuva in August brought a similar amount of goods comparing with last year, but due to the current factory repairs, which run from the last week of August and a part of September, cargo traffic was slightly lower.

“Petroleum products business has seasonal specifics; fuel oil is used both as a fuel and, for example, the production of bitumen, so the amounts are distributed depending on the needs of the market. Our company's primary job is to distribute the available capacity so that all Belarusian oil transit-carrying customers had equal conditions. To this end, in June we signed a long-term contract with BNK, and at the end of July – the Swiss-registered company “Verum Plus” AG, which transports oil from the Mozyr refinery," – says Mantas Bartuška, SC Klaipedos Nafta CEO.

According to the manager, the company will continue to maintain the flow of Belarusian cargo through its terminals by planning investments in terminal flexibility.

During August, the company operating LNG terminal, regasified and supplied 394 thousand MWh of natural gas to the transmission system.

The State owns 72,32 per cent of SC Klaipedos Nafta shares.
