Scheduled maintenance will be carried out at Klaipėda LNG terminal

2022-04-26 Klaipėda LNG terminals

Operations of Klaipėda liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal will be temporarily suspended from 07:00 on 27 April to 07:00 on 30 April due to the scheduled annual equipment maintenance and repair work. During this period, Lithuania will be supplied with natural gas from Latvia's Inčukalns gas storage facility.

During the scheduled maintenance and repair works, the entire LNG terminal infrastructure – FSRU Independence, the terminal jetty and its equipment, and the gas transmission pipeline facilities – will be inspected. Maintenance works will be performed by Lithuanian and international contractors.

"At the moment, when the LNG terminal is operating at almost maximum technological capacity and the demand for the terminal's capacity for the current gas year is evident, regular maintenance and servicing is of paramount importance to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of the LNG terminal. As always, we prepare for the process in advance, coordinating the details with market participants and informing LNG terminal customers accordingly. When carrying out maintenance works, we always aim to perform the planned works promptly for ourselves and the contractors, so that the terminal can return to normal operations as soon as possible and gas supply can be resumed", – comments Dainius Čiuta, KN Chief Operations Officer.

While the LNG terminal is undergoing maintenance, Lithuania's gas needs will be met from Latvia's Inčukalns gas storage facility.

"As Klaipėda LNG terminal has become the main source of gas for Lithuania since the beginning of April, it is of utmost importance to ensure its proper operation. All the gas Lithuania needs over the next three days will be transferred from the gas storage facility in Latvia. The gas transmission system is ready to ensure a smooth gas supply through the Lithuania-Latvia interconnector," says Justas Černiauskas, Head of System Management Center at Amber Grid.

The schedules maintenance is perdormed at the KN-operated LNG terminal in Klaipėda annually. Information on planned maintenance operations is provided in publicly available schedules.

When the LNG terminal resumes normal operations, the next LNG cargo is expected in Klaipėda on 6-7 May.
