It is the third summer that maritime students are offered to practice on the LNG storage vessel Independence. This possibility has been stipulated in the student practice agreement signed between KN (AB “Klaipėdos nafta”), the operator of oil products and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, the owner of the LNG storage vessel UAB “Höegh LNG Klaipėda” and the Lithuanian Maritime Academy.
This summer, second year students of the marine electrical and electronic engineering studies and marine power plant engineering studies of the Lithuanian Maritime Academy Henrikas Joneckis and Dovydas Pučkus will have the opportunity to gain unique skills and experience during their practice on the LNG vessel.

“Development of LNG competences and preparation of specialists is one of the priority fields of KN development, especially having regard to the fact that Lithuania has adopted a decision regarding the assurance of the long-term import of LNG to the country. We are glad to offer the youngsters the opportunity to get acquainted with the vast experience of the specialists of the terminal and thus to obtain the skills, which are now in demand in the growing LNG industry, and to enhance the competences, which are highly required in Lithuania,” said Arūnas Molis, Director of the Klaipėda LNG Service of KN.
The practice agreements were signed back in August 2016 during the implementation of the agreement between the companies and the education institution, which provided for cooperation by offering maritime students a possibility to undergo a technological practice on the LNG storage vessel Independence. It is planned that the two students’ practice scheduled for the beginning of June will last until the end of August.
Each year, KN invites and accepts students of various study fields to practice in the company. Practice offers are announced on the website of KN. This year, students will have voluntary practices and practices planned by higher education schools in KN LNG Operation Department, Departments of Information Systems, Communication and Human Resources.
