LNG supply chain in Klaipėda State Seaport

The Klaipėda LNG reloading station is designed for accepting LNG from small-scale carriers, for temporary storing it and loading it to LNG trucks, carriers, LNG powered vessels or containers of standard size compliant with ISO. LNG may also be loaded into containers of standard size compliant with ISO, which may be transported by rail, road or ships.

LNG can be imported to the Klaipėda LNG reloading station from Klaipėda LNG terminal or other terminals in the Baltic Sea or the North Sea.

LNG utilisation options

LNG is a clear, colourless, non-toxic and non-explosive liquid, which forms when natural gas is cooled to -162ºC. During the cooling process, the volume of the gas is reduced 600 times, which facilitates and increases safety of storage and transportation of the gas.

Upon delivery of LNG to the place of destination, it is converted into gas in regasification units and is transported via pipelines to households, businesses and industrial enterprises for the generation of heat or electricity. Nowadays LNG is emerging as a cost-competitive and cleaner fuel and infrastructure of Klaipėda LNG reloading station enables opportunities to use clean fuel for shipping and heavy-duty road transport.
