About the Piombino LNG terminal project
Piombino LNG terminal, located in the western part of the Italian port of Piombino, is based on floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) technology. FSRU Golar Tundra, purchased by Snam FSRU Italia, has a capacity of 170,000 cubic metres of LNG. The terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas (3,675 million tonnes per year).
KN role in the project
KN, as a specialized consultant provided technical and commercial support for Commissioning, Start-up and Early Operations of Piombino LNG Terminal.
KN’s main activities in the Piombino LNG terminal project:
- Support SNAM with technical, engineering and HSEQ capabilities during terminal development phase.
- Management support in decision making process regarding operations.
- Assisting SNAM with commercial operations activities.
- Support for the Terminal and FSRU commissioning as well as start-up of operations.
- Support with Marine Terminal Management and Self-Assessment (MTMSA) international audits of the Terminal.
